Allan Williams, "Al", was born in Bad Axe, Michigan and grew up on the family farm. He attended
Concordia College, Ann Arbor where he met his wife, Jan. Al and Jan were married their senior year and
received their teaching degrees in 1977 from Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska.
Al's first call was to Holy Cross Lutheran in North Miami, Florida where he taught classes in grades
seven, eight, and nine. He also coached boy's soccer and boy's volleyball and the Williams' became
involved in helping with youth ministry. In 1979, Al was asked to head up the youth ministry program.
Erica was born into the family in 1980.
In 1981, the Lord led Al to accept a call to move back to Michigan and to begin a full-time youth
ministry position at Trinity Lutheran in Utica. During his years at Trinity, he was also on the Michigan
District Board for Youth.
The Williams' family continued to grow, with Melanie being born in 1982, Adam in 1984, and Alyssa in
1986. Al continued his education and received his DCE (Director of Christian Education) degree in 1992
from Concordia College in Seward.
Al accepted the call to Immanuel in 1993. He is currently the seventh grade homeroom teacher. In
addition to his teaching responsibilities, he is also the Assistant Principal at Immanuel.
Since sports have always been an interest of his, while at Immanuel, Al has coached cross-country,
boy's basketball (5th/6th), girl's basketball (6th), boy's softball (7th/8th), and youth basketball with
the high schoolers. Al is currently the Director for the North Macomb Youth Basketball League. In June,
he completed his Master's in Middle School Education through Saginaw Valley State University.
Al and Jan's two oldest children, Erica and Melanie, are in teaching programs at Concordia University
in Seward. Adam is a senior at Lutheran High School North while Alyssa is a sophomore there. Al has one
younger sister who lives nearby with her husband and twin girls.
Al loves to watch all kinds of sports, play goalie for a floor hockey group, listen to upbeat
Christian music, collect comic books, and tries to keep up with the events in the lives of current and
former youth. He is thankful to God for his family, the friends and staff God has placed around him over
the years, and students and youth he has had an opportunity to get to know.
